Health and Safety

Dixie is committed to protecting the health and safety of our employees, contractors and visitors, as well as ensuring the safe operation of our processes. Recognizing and responding to community concerns about our products and our operations is also a high priority.

Dixie’s health and safety programs are focused on continuous improvement.  The programs provide multidisciplinary means to identify and assess hazards, prevent unsafe acts and conditions, maintain and improve employee health, and foster communication of health and safety issues.  Dixie has a comprehensive safety training program that exceeds regulatory requirements.  The

employee safety committee, Safety Teams Analyzing Risks (STAR), is actively involved in health & safety initiatives and constantly seeks new and innovative ways to compliment company health & safety programs with the goal of having zero incidents.

Dixie is committed to working with our customers, suppliers, carriers and contractors regarding the safe handling, use, transport and disposal of chemicals.  Health and safety protection methods and potential product hazards are shared with affected stakeholders.

Dixie’s volunteer Emergency Response Team is well prepared to respond should an emergency arise in the plant or community. ERT Training exceeds OSHA & EPA requirements.   Emergency Response Team members are trained in Fire Fighting, Hazmat, Rescue, CPR and First Aid.  Some

ERT members are also trained Emergency Medical Technicians.  Dixie participates in routine drills with Channel Industries Mutual Aid (CIMA) and the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).
