On November 6, 2018, Dixie Chemical was proud to take part in celebrating the winning class in Bondy Intermediate School’s food drive. The chemical company donated a Chick-fil-A breakfast to the class that collected the most canned goods. Kelli Gregory tapped her Dixie Chemical career experience to answer questions and give advice and tips to the students about a future in the chemical industry.
Students Learn About a Dixie Chemical Career
Mrs. Cantin’s first-period class made the largest donation, a total of 279 cans, and enjoyed a special breakfast donated by Dixie Chemical. Kelli Gregory spoke to the class about the different types of Dixie Chemical careers available and the diverse opportunities within the chemical industry.
The students were excited to receive the career advice, and the school posted pictures on their Facebook page of the class enjoying their breakfast along with the caption: “We would like to send thanks to Kelli Gregory from Dixie Chemical Company for donating breakfast from Chick-fil-a for this winning class! The breakfast was a hit!!”
Collecting Food For The Pasadena Community
Students at Bondy Intermediate collected a total of 1,191 cans last month that will be donated to the Can Do Food Drive, which will take place on Thursday, November 15 at the Pasadena ISD’s Veterans Memorial Stadium.
All of the non-perishable food is donated to local food pantries, including The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Pasadena Community Ministries, the Salvation Army, Sarah’s House and the Society of St. Stephen.
Since 2010, the annual food drive has provided tens of thousands of pounds of food to local shelters and food pantries at one of the busiest times of the year. In 2016, for example, more than 40,000 pounds of food was donated.
