Dixie Chemical Company and Evonik Jayhawk Fine Chemicals, two of the world’s leading specialty chemical companies, are joining forces. For the betterment of the global epoxy market, the two companies have entered into a development agreement for thermal curatives.
The collaboration will seek to blend attributes from Dixie’s monoanhydride and Evonik’s dianhydride chemicals. Dixie’s monoanhydride is from their thermoset market used for composites and coatings. Evonik’s dianhydride is used as a polyimide co-monomer and epoxy curative in electronics, plastics and machinery. Together, the products may be used to improve properties at higher temperatures.
Evonik’s Director of Marketing & Business Development Borys Schafran comments that the company is excited to tap into Dixie’s respected expertise in applied technology.
“These new products will not only address ease-of-use, which customers have been asking for, but will also improve the properties of epoxy coatings, moulding compounds and composite materials,” said Schafran. “This is especially important in applications where sustained mechanical, thermal and dielectric properties in adverse conditions over longer periods of time is a must-have requirement.”
Dixie is set to release a portfolio of products in 2016.
