Dixie Chemical represents the chemical industry at Junior Achievement Inspire event

This three day event provides Junior Achievement students with career information that will help them to map out a plan for success.  During the event, students were able to take a closer look at different industries and careers.  In Texas, students must choose an endorsement for their High School career.  Endorsement tracks are: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), Business and Industry, Public Service and Arts and Humanities.

“Junior Achievement (JA) is personally significant to me because it was my inspiration to be an engineer and businessman. A local entrepreneur volunteered his time to our high school economics class through JA. He shared how he used his engineering background to solve a business problem. He took a risk and left a secure job to build a very successful global business and create jobs in a small town. JA initiatives for entrepreneurship, personal finance, and career development are supported through practical and relevant lessons from real world business volunteers,” said Mike Gromacki, Senior Vice President.

Sharing Chemical Industry Insights with Students

Students started their day with a general session with speakers from professions within these endorsements.  The students then rotated between engaging in mini-sessions with speakers, viewing large equipment from the different industries, and walking around the career stations, including that of Dixie Chemical.  The volunteers at the career station spoke to the students about what requirements are necessary to succeed at Dixie Chemical and in the chemical industry. Dixie Chemical shares chemical industry insight with Junior Achievement students
