Dixie Encourages Interest in Chemical Industry Careers at Teague Elementary School

On May 22, 2018 Dixie Chemical was proud to take part in the Teague Elementary School Career Day. Kelli Gregory and Rocio Reyes represented Dixie Chemical. Through demonstrations and presentations, the two encouraged a future generation of scientists to consider chemical industry careers.

STEM Spurs to Interest in Chemical Industry Careers

Dixie Chemical encourages STEM education and chemical industry careers

Learning was a focus of the Dixie Chemical’s Career Day Team. They tried to impress upon the students both the fun and the importance of studying STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and they explained how to become a Chemist in the Chemical Industry. Dixie Chemical was part of 19 total stations that the students rotated between. Students were even encouraged to “dress the part” and come dressed as whatever they want to be when the grow up!

“Thank you so much Teague for hosting this “Career Day” and for all volunteers, my son has been sharing with me everything he has learn and how he is more interested in science now!” – Pamela A., comment on Teague Elementary School Facebook page

Applied Science

In addition to participating in the Career Day, Dixie Chemical also provided some star supplies for Teague Elementary School science projects. The donated larvae went straight to the third grade class to help them study ladybugs and butterflies.

“Thanks to Dixie Chemical for donating these larvae to our 3rd graders! We will keep you updated on their growth!” -Teague Elementary School
