Dr. Karana Shah Joins Thermoset Resin Formulators Association Board

Dixie Chemical is proud to announce that Dr. Karana Shah, Vice President of Technology, has recently been elected to the Thermoset Resin Formulators Association (TRFA) Board of Directors.

Dr. Karana Shah, innovator in advanced compositesDr. Shah was nominated by chemical industry peers and elected to the TRFA board on March 20, 2019. She will serve a three-year term starting with the 2019-2010 fiscal year. Dixie Chemical is proud to be represented by Dr. Shah and honored to join other leaders in thermoset resin that contribute to the board, such as Pro-Set, Inc., Atlas Minerals, Evonik Corporation and STAR Technology.

This nomination follows a successful career in specialty chemicals for Dr. Shah. Before joining Dixie Chemical in 2013, she worked for Zoltek and focused on advanced composites in their Composite Intermediates product line. She also worked with fellow member company Evonik Jayhawk Fine Chemicals and TAMKO Building Products. Dr. Shah holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Chemistry and earned her Ph.D. in Polymer Composites.

As a proponent of open innovation and research, Dixie Chemical’s goals align closely with those of the TRFA and member companies. With Dr. Shah on the Board, Dixie, member companies and the chemical manufacturing industry as a whole will enjoy collaboration and advancement.
