As the petrochemical industry continues to grow, it is in need of new talent, especially women.
In support of this, Dixie Chemical was proud to participate in the Women in the Petrochemical Industry Conference on January 30, 2019 at the Moody Gardens Convention Center in Galveston, Texas.
Dixie Chemical Encourages Women in Industry
The POWER conference is hosted by the Community College Petrochemical Initiative and seeks to inform the nearly 1,000 attendees about the high-paying career opportunities in petrochemicals. Women only make up about 25% of the industry, and the conference is trying to drive that number up.
Representatives from Dixie Chemical company attended the conference, joining those from ExxonMobil, BASF, DOW, Freeport LNG, LyondellBasell, Chevron Phillips, Jacobs, S&B and others.
The world’s energy challenges are increasing every day. So is the demand for people who can help solve them. With a skilled workforce, we’ll be able to take on the world’s toughest energy challenges. – Slogan from the event
EmPOWERing Women in the Petrochemical Industry
On January 29th, women joined together to learn more about how to secure a position and the specific skills needed to succeed. Colleges were also on hand to distribute information regarding classes, financial aid, degrees and certificates that fit along the petrochemicals career path.
Especially beneficial was the panel on employment, stacked with senior field professionals as well as human resources managers.
It was a day of motivation, support, success stories, career strategies and of course, networking. As a leader in the petrochemical industry, it’s important to Dixie Chemical to support the local community and encourage the next generation. It’s never to early to plan a path to success in petrochemicals!
